Thank you so much for sharing Isabella, I agree rice is very versatile and cheap and easy to cook. You can make anything from rice pudding to a main meal to just a side dish with gravy. I sometimes make a one pot meal with rice, you add uncooked rice to a pot, together with vegetables and “boerewors” (South African version of beef sausage). Then you just cook it until everything is cooked. And we also LOVE coffee or normal black tea, and then South African rooibos tea with rusks. We love rusks with coffee or tea and you get so many versions of it, from normal buttermilk to wholewheat, seeded options. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rusk)
And I love watching YT cooking videos for ideas on what to cook, and there is a lot of recipes you can try from different countries or your own. Or just educational videos on how to cook about anything 🙂
Oh, yes, rice pudding I love!! Most you get are made from white rice, but when I cook brown rice, just adding a bit of milk, maybe an egg and some sugar does the trick!
Thank you for sharing Isabella, I loved listening to you. With these last few podcasts of yours I was listening, so many of the things you were saying reminded me of my own mother when we were growing up. How blessed your children are to have an amazing mom like you that is following His lead and being His bride and because of that you can pour all of this love into what you are doing. I am looking forward to what He has you share you next.
Just imagine—four wise daughters who love to cook.
Already I am seeing the fruits of training my daughter, who trained her daughter to LOVE to bake! Her son saw how much fun and compliments, so now he bakes too.
So, even sons can be taught by example, my own son (and her mom), has inspired my other granddaughter to cook foods that heal the body!
My mother didn’t cook, but I was trained by wise woman who just taught me one thing—your podcasts keep me inspired as I mentioned on https://encouragingwomen.org/homegrown-podcasts/#comment-403
Thank you Isabella for continue sharing about your food planning and I love what you said about teaching your daughters how to cook. I was blessed enough to be trained by my mom and by being a worker at home, my Husband has put a special love for cooking during this time.
That’s very interesting Isabella that you eat the same lunch meal for supper.. here we cook fresh for supper every evening.. lunch is quick, normally a samwhich with tea or coffee. Rice is also a staple for supper here but we also love pastas. I love that you mentioned speaking to HH about what to cook and how simple it is to make a delicious meal with simple ingredients. You are reminding me to buy garlic l agree it makes a meal extra tasty.. here many people buy crushed garlic but fresh is best!
