“Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you, before you were born, I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” —Jeremiah 1:5
"For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well." —Psalm 135:13-14
"But even before I was born, God chose me and called me by his marvelous grace." —Galatians 1:15
Janine: The first time I found out that my son was uniquely created I thought I was being punished for all my sin (“It was not that this man sinned, or his parents, but that the works of God might be displayed in him. John 9:3), but our precious Beloved Lord's might is being displayed through him and what a blessing it has been being the mum of this uniquely created son.
I was frightened, thinking I was going to have to bring up my son all alone, but I wasn't all alone, because our precious Beloved Lord has been all the way with me. "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua1:9 After all these years I now get it: I labeled my son wrong and I took the label off him, because HE WAS UNIQUELY CREATED.
Working hand in hand with my Husband I will do a "Coffee Chat" podcast or Blog Post (however my Husband leads me) every 1st Wednesday of the month on the HGM blog, sharing my uniquely son: Luan's journey from birth. And how exciting my uniquely created son: Luan will also join me in some of the podcasts. I will also share blog posts and praises as He leads me.
Hope: Discovering that my son was uniquely created left me heartbroken. When my son was a toddler, we were referred to a neurologist who gave him a diagnosis and immediately started him on medication.
I wasn't just heartbroken for myself, but also for the struggles I envisioned him facing as he grew older. I assumed he would need to stay on medications his entire life. Yet, today, he's free from all medication! I am truly blessed to have a "Wonderfully and Uniquely Created" son.
Leaning on the Lord helped through the challenging times. Year after year, the trials and struggles have taught me to turn to Him for answers and I've had many answered prayers. He has been faithful and has taken my son places that doctors never thought possible. Today, he's a thriving 19-year-old.
“And so, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.” C2:12
According to Merriam-Webster, "chosen" means selected or marked for special privilege or favor. I was chosen to be his mother. What a privilege.
The Uniquely Created branch gives all of us mothers a chance to share our praises of our wonderfully made children. Working with my Beloved I will be sharing my journey with my son's experiences and diagnosis on the HGM blog, along with promises and possibly sharing that days My Beloved Children's Devotional around the 28th of the month.
Erin: Not only am I incredibly and wonderfully blessed to have a child who God "Wonderfully and Uniquely Created," but He prepared me by blessing my family and me with an older sister, Aunt Patty Cake. My hope and the hope of this Uniquely Created Group of Mothers will inspire you to make sure you have the most understanding and loving Husband—so that your child is guaranteed the wisdom, affection, and attention the perfect Father could give to His son or daughter.
Together, my Husband and I will share chapters from the book I was inspired to write about my sister, called Aunt Patty Cake, who was "Uniquely and Wonderfully Made," that "God willing," will post on the 7th of each month on HGM blog.
Yvonne: Although my situation is different from what the ladies here are facing, I do believe that my son, Owen's, story needs to be told. When he was diagnosed, like so many children of today with first ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) and later, the psychiatrist told me that he could be on the spectrum for autism (which I never got him tested or formally diagnosed with). The ONLY solution that was given to me is to medicate my child. This started when my son was in Grade 3; today, he is in Grade 11 and free of any medication. If you join this branch, you will learn more about our story and how the Lord made this possible.
Together, my Husband and I will work on a monthly HGM blog post with my journey with my son and his diagnoses and everything that flowed out from there, but most importantly how my Husband and my son, Owen, Heavenly Father got him off the medication, thriving in Homeschool and how He helped me overcome my fear of what was spoken over my son. We are hoping to post this every 14th of every month.
Ariele: A few years ago, my daughter had a very serious health problem due to an eating disorder, which greatly affected her health, but, praise the Lord, He, as the best Father there is, got up and took care of our girl, healing her from the disorder. We continued to do exams because she still felt very uncomfortable in some situations considered “normal” for teenagers of her age. Then He revealed to her that she did not need to be “treated” because she did not have any illness but she was uniquely created. He said to her that she feels that way because she lives on what the world calls the autism spectrum, but He said it is His protection for her. I confess that I was surprised. Our little girl has always been very reserved, quiet, and in her own world since she was little, but I never considered autism, especially because I knew very little about the subject.
When I talked to my Heavenly Husband, He calmed my heart, saying that the “Autism Spectrum Disorder” (ASD) that she has is level 1 and that it is a “misidentified characteristic,” not a mental illness, and that, in fact, He uniquely created her this way as a way of protecting herself from an increasingly fallen world. What could have been a frightening revelation, thanks to my Love, ended up being a blessing because it took a huge burden off my daughter’s shoulders, who now knows that this is the way her Heavenly Father created her and that she doesn’t need to conform to the world’s standards. She is calmer, more relaxed, happier. We even discovered her love for music! She started singing lessons and the Lord blessed her with an angelic voice
Together, my Husband and I will be working on a monthly HGM blog post about my journey with my daughter after she received her diagnosis and how my Husband is guiding and mentoring me and our daughter through this new chapter in our journey. We hope to post this on the 21st of each month.
