We never know who is watching us

A few days ago we went out to eat a pizza with my earthly husband and my daughter. While we waited for the order, without any toy at hand as I usually keep in my bag, I had no choice but to use my hands to play simple games that my daughter enjoyed tremendously.

Actually, there were 2 or 3 short activities but with some objective that she had to achieve. She was excited and screamed without making much of a fuss. Then, I noticed some little eyes on us. She smiled shyly at us. It was a girl of about 8 years old. She was sitting at the next table with her parents and an her older brother.

Meanwhile, our food arrived and we got ready to share the food. But out of the corner of my eye, I saw the girl, drawing the attention of her parents (immersed in their cell phones) and her brother (who was watching TV) to play the same games she saw us doing.

My darlings not only touched me but also confronted me with many thoughts... In the intimacy with my Lord, tears welled up at the thought of how parents so severe and consciously ignore our children, how any little thing distracts us from what is truly important.

I've thought about this so much: kids scream for our attention but there's also a point where they just sit there, self-absorbed and unnoticeable, which I think is worse. And I praise my God and my King because those situations make me more sensitive, they touch the depths of my heart and make me see that IT IS NOT THE TIME TO BE SILENT, and that we do not speak only with words. What we do counts. Every little act of kindness, of love, of patience, of sympathy is being watched by others. And if they are small eyes, the impact is exponentially higher.
Dear My Love, I thank you for your mercy, for letting me see my mistakes and others' to learn and to take actions that without speaking, shout to the 4 winds that you are a God of love and that you behave as such and You lead me to behave without religiosity or being a Pharisee.

It is in authenticity, in the walk of daily life that others have the opportunity to see You through our actions. God calls us to reflect His fatherly heart in the way we are raising our children.

  1. Sweet Mía, this is very hard to see!! I must confess that I hate cell phones because of that! People get so caught up with them and social media that they forget what is around them!
This is very painful, our children and teenagers really dying for their parents’ attention!
That is why I love the devotionals because it gives me time to enjoy with my children!

  2. Thank you dear Mia for this, this has left me thinking and with the help of my heavenly husband to work on my weaknesses especially that am a mom of five little souls.

  3. Thank you for sharing Mia, it let met think a lot and I know my Darling spoke to me through your post, just today I am really going to make time for both my sons because I am so busy with everyday tasks, but I just need to make time and I am talking about real time for them.

  4. He is always intentional. Never happens by coincidence. What we read, see and hear is from Him to us ❤️
    Praise the Lord!
