…but God

My middle son is 17 years old, he has an IQ of 72 and has been diagnosed with Mild Intellectual Disability and on the Spectrum. He is pretty self sufficient and can stay home by himself for hours if needed. I don’t know if he’ll ever be able to live on his own (even though he desires a big two story house and a Tesla vehicle) 😊 but maybe.
Anyways, while looking back at old answered prayers, I remember when he was just 2 years old, couldn’t talk well at all, was having staring spells (later to find out epilepsy), very, very hyperactive, etc. He was put on medicine for Epilepsy (which caused irritability and mood changes). I was fearful he wouldn’t be able to talk and be on medicine his entire life. I prayed to the Lord for him to stop having seizures and be taken off the medicine, for him to be able to speak, and him to calm down and stop getting in trouble at school. It took about about 10 years (give or take) “..but God was with him and rescued him from all his trouble” He has not been on medication for many years, he can speak (a lot sometimes 😂) and he may not be good at school work but he is a well behaved student (and teachers compliment on that often).

He has learned to make himself easy meals if he’s home by himself or make the family lunch (frozen pizza’s, canned chili, ramen noodles etc). I remember hearing someone mention on here (or maybe H@L, L@L)?? about possibly sharing quick and easy recipes. I did print off the items from W@H but was wondering if there has been a blog or post with any other recipes I can share with him.

    1. Thank you. Isabella I agree with the podcast on Who Said, that’s one of my favorites from Poverty Mentality. I posted a praise after reading it on H@L last month.

You are right, He has the last say! 💕
I also registered so I’m hoping to be able to fellowship one day soon.

    1. Yes Adina. Years ago, this is one of the first scriptures I memorized and meditated and wrote down on my index cards.

For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.” (M1720)

Thank Him for his promises and His love. ❤

  2. Thank you Esperança for sharing and opening your heart to us. I agree with Isabella and Adina that the last word belongs to our Husband and Heavenly Father to our children…
We can already praise the Lord that your son has not taken medicine for many years, and continue with your faith in the Lord, for He will continue to protect and guide your son.

    1. Yes, praise to Him for taking him off the medicine and taking care of every detail.
I love how the translation says Esperanca, I had to google just so I could hear how it is spoken. I love it. 😁

  3. Thank you for sharing dear Hope, my son will be 17 Monday and has a physical disability because of a stroke before birth. A physiotherapist showed me his brain scan and said his brain is so much damaged on the left side that he isn’t suppose to talk, but he talks a lot.
And that comes back to the fact the our loving Lord has the last say with our children. So grateful that your son talks now and can even prepare small meals, our children’s loving Heavenly Father takes care of them, all the glory to Him.

    1. When I first read your post, Hope-Darling, and then yours Janine, I realized that in some way I had the opposite crisis with my second son (a genius IQ but there were very concerning issues so that he would not live “normally”) and yet, now as an adult he’s married, has two sons who are “perfect” and has supported his family working with his hands.
GOD SAYS we are, our children are, “fearfully and WONDERFULLY made” and “made it the IMAGE of GOD” and the challenge/blessing is the amount of dependency on a Husband/Father who delights in doing the impossible. It also puts us in a perfect position to take nothing for granted because each accomplishment and “impossible” feat is an opportunity for praise and gratitude.
Janine and Hope-Darling, coming off the heals of https://narrowroadpublishinghouse.com/what-book-is-your-favorite/#comment-95 I don’t think it’s by chance He’s led me to comment for the first time.
*May I also say that if either of your supermoms needs a cover, just look at Adina’s https://narrowroadpublishinghouse.com/rjn-adina/ who did her own cover. Adina, how might someone get in touch with you for a cover or ministry logo? https://the-praise-report.com/radd-group/ send you a message? Has your Husband spoken to you about a Google Site or I suppose each of your LMF you could add a page and build your own office, am I right Yvonne?

      1. Erin the reminder that God says our children (we) are fearfully and Wonderfully made…it made my heart happy. I am excited to see how far He will bring and what lies ahead for Jacob and make the impossible possible.
Ive been talking Him about how/if/when/what he wants me to start a google site. I’m waiting.

    2. Wow Janine, He is great and really takes care of us and His children. It makes me giggle that both of our boys “talk a lot” now. haha
It’s really helping me to go back and remember prayers that have been answered and to praise our HH again.

And they were bringing children to Him so that He might touch them (M1013)

  4. Hello Hope thank you for sharing this about your son, you know that his Maker is our Heavenly Husband. And what God made is always good. And what HE allow to happend in a child life is always for the good of the person. How your son is and what he is able to do according what the docters are saying he is not able to do is already a testimony and prove that what the people of this world think of saying is not right. So good to read that our Lord answers your prayers what made i think you stronger in your believe and closer to Him.
My son was also 2 years old when they said to me that he should have talked already. except for a few words, he spoke by pointing at things. He then went to speech lessons and now he talks so much and fast that we can’t understand him😂. When he was 6 years old he was diagnosed with Hyper active with a very short attention span. He is now 14 and back on the waiting list because my son is now so calm that they suspect that the earlier diagnosis was incorrect but that he has something else. But we’ll see what they say. Fortunately, our Heavenly Beloved has the last word and also some tasty and easy recipes for your son and for us. So we dont have to worry😁

    1. Thanks kristinD. Yes, His way is always good and I’m so thankful we can rely on Him and not the world. It’s funny because Janine also says her child talk a lot now too. haha. Often my son does too (talks fast) and I have to ask him to slow down. 😂
He really is the best Father to our children. 💕

  5. Isabella, is it just me or should we start a moms group to discuss and post encouragement like this, maybe devote a page or something else to keep this going?

    1. Yes my dear, Our Beloved is leading me to build something like this, and also a cooking recipe one!! I am still seeking Him to see how to start posting!!
      Thank you so much!!
