The School Year is Over

The school year is over here in my country, South Africa, and we are taking a much-needed break.

Of course, this is vacation time for the children and they are doing their own thing as they are now fast becoming teenagers.

I am enjoying the break, but at the same time, I miss the time with my children. Most mothers will have it the other way around. You cannot wait for vacation time to be able to spend time with your children, whereas for me, I am able to be in their company all day long and I enjoy every moment of it.

Of course, we work, because they have to do their lessons and I am a worker at home, but still, there are precious moments when we would sit and talk about things without the distractions of electronics and all those other things that would grab their attention. And this always reminds me of the time I cherished the most with my own mother that is not with us anymore. We would sit outside in the evenings without the distraction of the television and just talk or sit quietly. Those are some of my fondest memories and I am hoping that I am making those same memories for my children to cherish and tell their children long after I am gone.

It has been two years now that I have been homeschooling full-time and no it is not always easy, but to see my children grow and bloom, makes all the effort worth it!!

I thank my Husband for making this dream of mine come true!

  1. First of all, I am so excited that you are posting on this blog for one of the most important components to raising my children – – homeschooling them! The fact that you are also homeschooling your children Yvonne still leaves me and off and it’s been a full two YEARS! I had no idea it had been that long.
We’ve talked about several ideas for a podcast, but this one is so important “for such a Time as this” that I’d love to schedule a time to record this week rather than leave my comments here. Seriously I’ve got so much to say so maybe His plan is to schedule this weekly. Who knows? GOD knows! As today’s EW lunch is wLL “he leads me” of course will do just that!!

  2. Thank you for sharing Yvonne, every time I read one of your praise reports regarding home schooling the desire in my heart grows. But I also know, and am at peace, that my children are with their dad most of the time at the moment, for a season and a reason, but I am trusting Him to give me the desire of my heart at His appointed time.

    1. Adina, I’m so glad you said that because that’s exactly where most miracles begin. He creates that desire and plants in our heart and then he fulfills His second promise.“Delight yourself in the lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart” https://biblehub.com/psalms/37-4.htm
May I also add here that I just watched your video with your daughter and I had to capture it on a screenshot to save. Of course seeing you two together was beyond precious but also… You are becoming more and more beautiful and radiant. You also look 10 to 15 years younger than when you first came to RMI. The transformation is incredible and how often have we seen this? I never cease to be in complete and utter AWE!! 🥳🥳🥳
Your situation as a mother to be able to homeschool is about as impossible as it could get which means it’s the perfect soil and situation that God loves to perform his miracles. I for one am believing with you and in full agreement. This will happen if it is as will.
